The Wind Rises

The Wind Rises is a fascinating journey through time and space. Emerging from the pandemic that cruelly paralyzed our world, Manu Roque wondered how to begin moving again after such a long period of inertia. And to what end? Driven by a profound sense of uncertainty, punctuated by endless hours of wandering in the studio, he undertook a patient choreographic research that gradually moved toward an exploration of imbalance and the loss of bearings—focusing on the necessity of building new anchors and the joy of being in motion once again: upright, whole, free, and alive.

Bathed in sumptuous light and shadow, The Wind Rises unfolds within the void, offering a poetic landscape of great evocative power. At times a breeze or a breath, at others a gust, a squall, a whirlwind, or a storm, Manu Roque’s humble and virtuosic body is a generous invitation to a journey—a trek, a pilgrimage, an initiatory rite, a metaphysical adventure. It seeks to translate the personal and universal paths that guide the battles we fight, the vulnerabilities we try to hide, and the ideals and summits we strive to reach.
